Amanda Barnard
Amanda loves sharing the joy and light of her heart through yoga. She lives to dig her hands in the dirt and share yoga, music and laughter with like minded people around the world. Growing up in rural New Hampshire she spent her childhood exploring her Mothers garden and the surrounding forests; now she feels at home on our 8 acre yoga farm gracing the shores of the mystic Lake Atitlan. After taking her first training with SchoolYoga Institute in 2009 Amanda quickly became an integral part of the SYI family, and along with SchoolYoga Institute’s Director Vedantin Luo, Amanda has been the creative force behind this magical paradise. When not on the farm Amanda teaches yoga classes at local studios in her home town of Keene, NH or at different sites around the globe with SYI.
Amanda first discovered yoga in 1999 as a theater student. In 2003 she founded the Johnson State College Yoga Club, which connected students to local yoga studios and teachers, creating a loving yoga community in the mountains of northern Vermont. As an outdoor educator Amanda has been sharing yoga with youth at summer camps and on wilderness trips for 8 years.
In early 2009 Amanda completed her 200 hour training with the SchoolYoga institute in her home community of Keene, NH. In 2010 she completed her 500 hours in Guatemala, and 800 hours in Nicaragua, becoming part of the SYI family. Being an avid gardener and backpacker she delved deep into the Earth Medicine practices of SchoolYoga and is one of the foundational spirits in the creation of our Mystical Yoga Farm connecting spirit with the natural healing of Gaia.
Praise for Amanda
