General Background (5 hours)
An in-depth look into pregnancy and birth. Will include low risk and high risk pregnancies and how to be able to recognise both.
Techniques Training/Practice (30 hours)
There will be a focus on the 3 different trimesters, alignment and how to teach to each group and also teach a group at different stages of pregnancy. Yoga positions, pelvic floor and breath for birth and the 3 stages of birth will be covered.
Students will be taught how to teach a partner yoga class and how to lead specific birth and pregnancy visualisations. Students will also learn how to adapt a general hatha class for a pregnant student and which asanas need to be avoided during pregnancy.
Teaching Methodology (15 hours)
Students will earn how to structure their own classes and will also lead classes with small group interaction and feedback.
Anatomy and Physiology (10 hours)
An in-depth study of the 3 trimesters in preganancy for both mum and baby, labour and post-partum.
Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Prenatal Yoga Teachers (5 hours)
Pregnancy is a time of transformation of becoming a mother and in this course we will explore the self, our beliefs around pregnancy and birth and intertwine this with yogic philosophy.
Practicum (20 hours)
Class observation as part of the training (6 hours)
Observing/practicing pre-natal sessions in the training
Class observation in local area (4 hours)
Participants will be required to attend 4 x hours of prenatal classes and document observations, questions, what they got out of it prior to the training in their local area.
Teaching as part of the training (6 hours)
A total of 6 hours leading a prenatal sessions to the training group (large or small group depending on size of group in the training). WIll include asana, guided relaxations and visualizations.
Teaching and journaling pre-natal yoga sessions (4 hours)
4 hours of pre-natal classes to be taught by the student and journalized including written thoughts on how the sessions were to be submitted for final certification after the training. (eg. 4 x 1 hour or 2 x 1.5 hour and 1 x 1 hour etc)
