Our Bali Yoga Teacher Training Locations
Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Bali takes place at two carefully selected retreat centers in the north of the island, each chosen for their connection to nature, their distance from the tourist crowds of the south, and their capacity to hold the kind of deep, immersive experience that real transformation requires.
Bumi Cinta – Tejakula
Our center sits atop the ridges of the Les Valley and provides breathtaking views of the Bali Sea as it merges with the Sky. Promote healing, purification, and nature connection, the raw nature of the surrounding jungle is balanced with heavenly views of the sea seamlessly merging with the sky. Facilities include Spa and Wellness center, a large Yoga Shala, and a magnificent Restaurant and Lounge.
Bumi Cinta offers traditional open-concept accommodations emphasizing a seamless connection with nature and promoting indoor-outdoor living. Constructed from natural materials like bamboo and wood, these eco-friendly spaces feature simple, comfortable furnishings that enhance the immersive experience, allowing guests to fully appreciate the island’s beauty and heritage.
Sumberkima Hill — Northwest Bali
Sumberkima Hill sits above the quiet northwest coast of Bali, surrounded by jungle hills and panoramic views of the Bali Sea. This peaceful sanctuary offers the kind of stillness that allows students to fully arrive in their practice, in their bodies, and in the experience. Days begin with meditation and asana practice as the morning light moves across the hills. Nourishing meals made from fresh local ingredients fuel the afternoon sessions of philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and posture clinics.
Both locations share the same curriculum, the same community-centered approach, and the same commitment to going far beyond learning poses, into yoga philosophy, embodied practice, and the art of teaching that School Yoga Institute has been offeringg since 2004.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN OUR BALI YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
CEREMONY & CULTURE DURING OUR TRAINING
In Bali, life, culture, and community are celebrated daily. As the only Hindu island in Indonesia, Bhakti Yoga—devotion through prayer, song, and celebration—is woven into every aspect of life. Temples line the roadsides, and offerings of marigolds, treats, and prayers bless each doorway.
The Balinese warmly share their traditions with visitors. During our Bali Yoga Teacher Training, we often welcome priestesses, dancers, and local practitioners to guide ceremonies and share ancestral wisdom. Traditional dances, performed since childhood, embody gratitude, devotion, and the stories of deities through movement and art.
CONNECTION TO NATURE & SELF DURING OUR 200-HOUR BALI YOGA TEACHER TRAINING
Connection to nature is profound in Bali, especially through the element of water—long honored for cleansing, healing, and rebirth. In our YTT, we hold water ceremonies to align with this tradition, inviting students to experience deep renewal and transformation during their journey.
Discover more about Bali’s water healing and purification traditions, an ancient practice woven into every training we hold on the island.
FOOD IN BALI
At SYI, we’re food lovers who value nourishment as part of the yogic path. Our trainings include three daily vegan/vegetarian meals, often locally sourced and organic. Students enjoy tropical fruits, smoothies, grains, vegetables, and healing drinks like jamu (turmeric, ginger, honey).
Lunch is the heartiest meal, featuring Indonesian favorites such as Gado Gado, Nasi Goreng, Mi Goreng, and Rendang curries, with options for vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free diets.
CLIMATE DURING OUR BALI YOGA TRAINING
Bali’s tropical climate stays warm year-round. The rainy season runs from November to March, while April to October is mostly dry, with only occasional showers.

WHAT ELSE YOU’LL LEARN IN OUR BALI YTT
IN-DEPTH MEDITATION TECHNIQUES AND PRACTICE // MEDITATION
Meditation allows you to connect with your divine self by calming and observing the mind. During the training, you’ll explore various meditation techniques, establishing a daily practice and learning how to guide others confidently. You’ll also delve into the physiological and philosophical benefits of regular meditation. In Bali, where silence and ceremony are woven into daily life, meditation takes on a depth that is difficult to find anywhere else.
EXPERIENCE OF DIFFERENT PRANAYAMAS TECHNIQUES // PRANAYAMA
Pranayama, the observance of breath, helps deepen your connection to life force energy. In this training, you’ll practice breath awareness, learn pranayama philosophy, and discover techniques to enhance both your personal practice and your teaching.
DAILY ASANA PRACTICE // ASANA
You’ll practice two yoga flows—Hatha and Vinyasa—covering over 75 postures, including three variations of Sun Salutations. Through daily asana practice and labs, you’ll refine your understanding of alignment and movement, preparing to safely guide students.
YOGA PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy sessions explore the Yoga Sutras by Patanjali, along with Buddhist, Zen, and Shamanic teachings. You’ll learn yoga’s history, the 4 paths, and Patanjali’s 8 limbs, gaining a comprehensive understanding of yoga’s philosophical roots. Studying these teachings in Bali adds a living dimension to the philosophy. Bali breathes these principles in its temples, offerings, and daily rituals.
ART OF TEACHING & ART OF TOUCH
You’ll develop your teaching voice by practicing alignment cues, sequencing, and adjustments. From day one, you’ll teach mini-sequences, building confidence to guide full Hatha and Vinyasa classes by the end of training.
AYURVEDA
As yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda provides a holistic approach to wellness. You’ll be introduced to its ancient practices, gaining tools to embody a nourishing and supportive lifestyle.
YOGA ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY
You’ll learn both physical and energetic anatomy, including the body’s functions and systems, as well as chakras, nadis, and prana. This deep understanding will elevate your teaching and awareness of the body.
PERUVIAN MEDICINE WHEEL
Our training focuses on personal growth, using the Peruvian Medicine Wheel to provide tools for empowerment and spiritual expansion, guiding you on a transformative journey.
KRIYA YOGIC CLEANSING
Kriya yoga is a system designed to purify the body and mind, deepening the connection between mind and spirit. During the 200-hour program, you’ll be introduced to various cleansing methods that enhance your practice.
KIRTAN, BHAJAN, MANTRA AND CHANTING
Chanting, one of the earliest yoga practices, opens the throat and heart energies. Kirtan and Bhajan foster self-connection and community while also teaching Sanskrit and Hindu philosophy. In Bali, where devotional song and prayer are part of everyday life, chanting during your training connects you to a living tradition rather than a historical one.
CACAO, FIRE & MOON CEREMONIES
Ceremonies honor sacred traditions and moments. In our training, you will experience cacao and fire ceremonies, and learn how to hold ceremonial space for your community. Some facilitators may also guide lunar and journey ceremonies. Held in Bali, where ceremony is not a ritual but a way of life, these experiences carry a resonance that stays with students long after the training ends.
