LEVEL UP YOUR YOGA PRACTICE

LEVEL UP YOUR YOGA PRACTICE

Want to learn how a Yoga Teacher Training can level up your yoga practice? This blog is for you🙂

Many people sign up for a Yoga Teacher Training with the intention to teach. Another incredible reason to complete a Yoga Teacher Training is to deepen your own practice and ultimately, change your life in many powerful ways.

You don’t have to want to be a teacher to have a transformative experience at a 200-Hour YTT.

When I signed up for my first yoga teacher training, I didn’t know whether or not I would actually end up teaching. All I knew was that Yoga had changed my life and taking a 200-Hour YTT felt like the next step in deepening my personal practice.

And wow, I had no idea JUST how much completing a yoga teacher training would transform my relationship to Yoga, and my life in general!

Here are 3 main ways how a YTt Can Level Up Your Yoga Practice (and life):

ON A PHYSICAL LEVEL:

Before completing my Yoga Teacher Training, I thought I had a pretty dedicated Asana practice. The amount of devotion and commitment I experienced to the physical practice of Yoga during my YTT changed my personal practice forever. Waking up with the sunrise every morning to meditate and move in community is incredibly transformational.

We spent about 3 hours each day practicing in our own bodies and then 3 hours each day learning the art of teaching and adjustments for each posture. Not only did I find more strength and mobility than ever before, but I also found a deeper connection to the poses. My yoga teacher training helped me to understand Asana (the physical practice of yoga) as a vehicle to access deeper truths and wisdom within myself.

ON A PHILOSOPHICAL LEVEL:

Yoga is an ancient practice built on thousands of years of philosophy, wisdom, and intention. In Western cultures, ‘Yoga’ is often equated to ‘Asana,’ which only encompasses the physical aspect of this incredible practice. Yoga is much more than just the hour or two we spend on our yoga mats! I remember being shocked when I learned on my YTT that Asana is only one of the eight limbs of yoga as laid out by the Indian sage Patanjali, author of the Yoga Sutras.

Through my teacher training, I came to understand Yoga as that which encompasses all of the eight limbs of yoga, and goes far beyond flexibility, strength, and movement. When we come to understand Yoga as Union, we learn to navigate our lives with a greater sense of peace, purpose, and intention.

ON A HUMAN LEVEL:

During my yoga teacher training, I came to understand that yoga is not about the physical postures, but instead what they teach you — compassion, resilience, patience, and greater self-awareness. Yoga is a true exploration of ourselves, our emotions, our dreams, our passions, and our purpose. It helps us stay committed and dedicated to our personal growth, and is a reminder of how powerful we are when we are living in Union.

The mat is a beautiful opportunity for self-reflection — to let go of that which is no longer serving us and to discover what truly brings us joy.

Completing my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training up-leveled my yoga practice in EVERY way — mentally, emotionally, and physically. Whether you plan to teach or not, deepening your knowledge about Yoga is a beautiful way to come into connection with your practice in an entirely new way.
