Yoga Testimonial – Elodie. Our Bali Yoga Teacher Training Alumni

I’ve only been practicing yoga for a year, but I knew for months that I wanted to do my Yoga Teacher Training, so I could try and make people feel the same way I did when I took my first class; calm, anxiety free, energized, empowered, peaceful and more at home than I have ever felt. After a couple of classes in, I started to ask my teachers about their yoga journey, their formations and what makes them love teaching yoga. I was passionate to learn about them and the place and impact that this beautiful practice took in their life. I just knew I wanted to do that too. One yogini told me about this beautiful school where she did her teacher training. I immediately looked it up, but I didn’t want to rush into it so I took my time and surfed the internet searching for a teacher training that would call me in. I always came back to the same one; clear informations, beautiful locations, experienced teachers.

School Yoga Institute really stood up from all the rest. It had everything I was looking for. So, I started exchanging emails with kind and patient people from the program that helped me planned the perfect yoga teacher training. And in my dream destination, nothing less. I was really hesitant about choosing the most expensive location for my training. But it was a chance I couldn’t miss on, so I worked hard and did everything I could to be able to go do a Yoga Teacher Training in Bali. Even after doing it, it doesn’t seem real. I did a yoga teacher training in Bali with School Yoga Institute.

It is truly exceptional to have the chance to live such an experience. Let me tell you a little more about it.

I wanted to have my formation to be a yoga teacher and make a difference in people’s lives, I want to make them feel worry free and great about themselves, even if it is only for an hour during their day. As soon as I began the course, I realized that to make people feel good I had to feel good about myself first. It was the start of a 3 weeks of self-work, and now I know that the end of these 20 days was only the beginning of a lifetime mental and physical self-improvement.

The training took place in Samadi, that we affectionately called “the bubble”. In sanskrit, Samadhi is described as a state of oneness, which is the perfect way to define how I felt in this location. Every aspect came together to allow myself to reach a state of intense concentration and learn everything I needed to know to become a certified yoga teacher. By every aspect, I mean the place that was beautifully designed and brought out a peaceful vibe, the food that was fresh and delicious and the staff that were the most amazing and dedicated humans I’ve had the chance to meet.

Tessa and Brandi were our teachers for the training. They truly knew how to guide us as a group, as individuals and as future yogis, and they were exceptional at it. They both have their own pure and unique personality as well as strengths and knowledge that they had the kindness to enlighten us with. They accompanied us on this journey through self-work and self-knowledge. They educated us on how to deepen our spirituality, about yoga history, anatomy and the art of teaching. They basically inspired us to become better human beings. More than that, they have the wonderful power to hold space for each of their student. I will be forever grateful for them to have stumble upon my path and I wish for everyone in their life to come across equally awe-inspiring mentors.

The people I was in contact with from the school were absolutely divine from the beginning to the end. From the ones answering to my emails weeks before the training, to the teachers during and after it, the 21 other beautiful souls I met there and I shall not forget the amazing local people who shared with us their culture and beliefs with such grace. I’ve never encounter more human, supportive, caring and loving people. And I am grateful for each and everyone of them.

Doing this training was the scariest and the best decision I’ve made in my life. It is literally a dream come true for me. So yes, I want to be a yoga teacher now, but I also want to empower people and encourage them to pursue their dreams and support them in their journey.

If you are looking for a yoga training but are still uncertain, if you doubt yourself, or if, for any reason, you don’t think you can do it, there’s one thing I want you to know: If you want something really bad you can always find a way to have it. So, if you’ve been waiting for a sign, this is it.
