Yoga Student Testimonial – Rosie
My experience as a Peru Yoga Teacher Training Student
Coming from Serbia to such a far away place and a community with a mixed culture was a mystery to me, so I was putting my mindset into a ‘warrior state’. But my shield was down from the first day when I met lovely teachers Brooke, Zach and Carlie at breakfast where they welcomed me with their warm approach. They motivated my inner child from the start to be cheerful, open hearted and shine with my true nature. And again, with their professionalism, I was able to get the knowledge I aimed for.
This was my second 200 hr Yoga Teacher Training, so I was hoping to get wider perspective for the basics and the quality of information which are applicable. The schedule was tight and intense, but I was looking forward to every spoken word, activity, hug, smile, connection, leaf, bug, rock… We were having fun through learning and the huge reminder of how to live life with your full lungs. On the 4th day I was already feeling that the whole group was my family. Even though I didn’t know their life stories, their energy was bringing me happiness.
Very well combined both of Hatha and Vinyasa practice. I was able to go with the flow, glide through the practice. Enjoying breathing through the moments, which reminded me about using all of them like that at this sanctuary of ours. Breaking down every pose in variety of approaches with anatomical addition was a beautiful extension to my practice. As well as yoga assistances, and gentler ways of connecting with a student. My mind just accepts naturally yoga philosophy, but the teachers made it even more interesting by simplifiing it through the language which is familiar to us. I would draw special attention to interaction with students, and brainstorming together. Ceremonies, satsang, dancing, connecting, ‘putting our hearts on the table’ with full trust, possibility of having and expressing range of feelings, expressing our beings in our true light was truly refreshing. Mentors were dedicated to the point of treating us like their own children.
The experience of the whole retreat was magical, and probably not possible to putting into words. Capacity of love, knowledge, given experience, and making sure that every moment counts is for ever praised. All the traditional yoga concepts were brought into modern life. I am still so in love with everything that yoga retreat was, but I hope I will learn my lesson of letting go. So many precious memories that are engraved in my heart, forever!
You do holy work!
