Vanessa has been practicing Yoga for the past 12 years, after her father introduced her to his Kundalini classes in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In October 2012 she decided to become a Yoga Teacher and enrolled in an RYT 200 Yoga Alliance course with Anamaya in Costa Rica, under the supervision of Paula Tursi from Reflections Yoga in New York City.
On her return to her home town of El Paso she worked as an instructor at Casa de Yoga for 18 months before moving to London in the summer of 2014 and completing her RYPT pre-and postnatal training with Yoga London. After moving to Berlin in April 2016 she has worked as an English language Vinyasa and Yin instructor at Yoga & More, Aspria and Lokahi Loft. She completed her 500 hour teacher training with School Yoga Institute (Oregon) in her beloved Bali in February 2019.
Her love of the sun and surfing which stems from her student days in San Diego and living in Bali prompted her to organize her first retreat (“In Your Element”) through her company, Desert Rose Yoga, in Columbeira, Portugal in May 2019.
~Vanessa has this beautiful way of making others feel so safe, seen and welcomed just with the warmth of her energy (great prana). I enjoyed getting to know her and soaking up all her wisdom! She remained calm and centered for the entire training and I felt like I could come to her for anything.
