MEET SUNSHINE RAY
200Hr & 500Hr YTT Certified | Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Tantra Yoga Teacher | Men’s Work Facilitator
Sunshine Ray was raised in the Appalachian Mountains of Botetourt, Virginia. A place that fueled his passion for nature, music, and adventure. He has continued to explore this world. Finding the natural beauty that Mother Earth has to offer and playing the songs he carries with him along the way. As he has traveled over the past 2 1/2 years he has taught yoga on 5 continents, in many countries, and has continuously grown as a student of yoga.
Sunshine started his journey with yoga in 2018. It was suggested to him by his therapist. He was seeking help for the trauma and pain he experienced while serving in the United States Air Force. While hesitant at first, this began his beautiful journey of healing. Which eventually led him to Guatemala to do his first YTT. He completed his 200hr YTT with SYI in 2021. He immediately began teaching Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin Yoga around the world. Exploring many different healing modalities along the way. This led him to live at a Tantric ashram in Thailand for 5 months where he completed 500hrs of training. Learning Traditional Tantra, Ayurveda Massage, and Thai Massage. Letting his heart guide him he next found himself in Bali, Indonesia. This is where he did a 500hr YTT with Ulu Yoga. Further expanding his knowledge of Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, and Tantra Yoga.
Sunshine continues to travel and teach and is calling Morocco home at the moment. Where he works as a yoga teacher, enjoying the stunning coast and surf Morocco has to offer. When he is not teaching yoga he is connecting with people, playing music on his guitar or wooden flutes, joining in Kirtan Jams, surfing, pole dancing, and doing Acro Yoga.
Sunshine is also a Men’s Work Facilitator and has a passion for helping men reconnect with their emotions. He found himself struggling with depression, anxiety, and PTSD after his military experience. Thinking he could tell no one, he found freedom in emotional expression, Men’s Work, and Yoga. Now it is important to him to give back to those experiencing similar struggles. Not just in Men’s work but in all beings. He is also hoping to bring more of a focus in his work to Veteran healing programs and retreats in the future.

What inspires you in your practice?
Play inspires my practice the most. When I’m on my mat it is about having fun and being goofy. Laughing through the falls, missteps, and tight hips. I’m also inspired by the healing it brings to myself and how that has rippled out to those around me. Even the days the tears stream down my face as I lay on my mat I am inspired. I love the joy and emotional release that yoga brings me and it keeps me coming back to the mat.
