“Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away,
once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.
Wash your spirit clean.”
Connection to Nature
As time continues her graceful dance forward, we find ourselves anticipating September’s full harvest moon. Named for the season’s final gathering, our native elders marked this time by celebrating the bounty of nature.
Recognizing that we are not separate from nature, we can find communion and rebirth in the fields and forests. With the energy of a full moon enlivening our spirits, let us pause and connect to the source of life itself.
In Japanese culture, the practice of wandering through forests ‘shinrin-yoku’, roughly translates to Forest Bathing. Understood to heal the body, invigorate the spirit, and restore broken connections to the earth, Forest Bathing is a powerful personal practice.
Offering infinite possibilities for exploration, allow your forest bathing practice to begin in silence. Pausing in one area for several minutes, attune to the senses; fill the lungs, release tension. Notice the impact even 30 minutes of forest bathing has on the body. And with connectivity restored, return and share your story so others may be inspired to practice, as well.
We thank you for your goodness, your desire to care for yourself and the earth. We invite you to awaken and bathe fully in nature’s beauty.
With A Deep Bow Of Gratitude,
Your SYI Family

SYI FEATURES STUDENT
this part of my yoga journey began the day I came back from a six-month deployment to the Middle East where I witnessed, first hand, the pain of human suffering in this world. I had served in the United States Marine Corps for six years as a combat engineer and after a deployment overseas I had come back with multiple forms of physical, mental, and emotional trauma and diagnosed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Upon my arrival back to the states, I felt lost and searched to find anything that could help me ease my pain. Read more of Grant’s powerful story here.
