Welcome to the mystical land of Guatemala! Home to volcanoes, rainforests, and ancient Mayan history. Both of our programs are located on a powerful volcanic crater, the beautiful Lake Atitlan! We host our Guatemala YTTs at two very unique locations: The Mystical Yoga Farm and Villa Sumaya.
The Mystical Yoga Farm, located near Santiago Atitlan, allows you to spend time living amongst an eco rustic permaculture farm. Fill your body with vegan superfoods while you have the opportunity to learn the multifaceted aspects that come along with living in a self-sustaining environment. Learn about the importance of community, ceremony, and disconnecting from all the noise which distracts us from hearing our inner voice as we live in harmony with nature.
Villa Sumaya is a retreat and wellness center located in Santa Cruz la Laguna, Lake Atitlán. Villa Sumaya is dedicated to rejuvenating holistic practices and healing modalities as well as preserving Mayan traditions in the heart of the Altiplano. Dive deeply into the refreshing natural beauty of this stunning landscape. Within the vast, majestic horizons, you’ll find a deeper connection with your heart’s song and a rejuvenated sense of wellbeing in this beautiful setting.
As an organization, we are very selective about the locations where we choose to host our teacher training programs. We believe that the environment in which you learn has the potential to enhance your overall experience. It’s important to be mindful of the impact we have on the places we visit. With that in mind, we always make an effort to collaborate with eco-friendly retreat centers that recognize and prioritize sustainability. In Guatemala, we have partnered with sustainable centers that work hand in hand with the land. Protecting and preserving our one precious planet.

Guatemala has one of the most extensive and diverse forest systems in Central America. Its name is said to mean "land of the trees" in the Mayan-Toltec language. Sadly, the country is losing these precious forests at a rapid rate. Because of its topography, Guatemala is susceptible to landslides, floods and other natural disasters. However, the biggest driver of deforestation has been population growth and economic disparity. With more than one million hectares of land that could be harnessed for reforestation, this project aims to bring back the healthy forests that have characterized the country since ancient times. School Yoga Institute commits to donating one tree for every YTT graduate!

Everyone is wholeheartedly accepted and encouraged. We create and hold space where participants feel safe and comfortable. We support the growth and expansion of people’s horizons — physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and energetically. As a group, a community, a tribe, and an extended family, we practice and learn to let go. We allow the world to unfold before us without reaction or judgment.
Our intention is to guide aspirants through their own healing journey in order to better prepare them for healing others, letting go of anything that holds them back from what their hearts are truly called to do. Together we unveil the true essence and sweet nectar of life.
Most countries have different COVID regulations aroundmasks, social distancing, etc. We are not in control of how retreat centers run their business or the laws of the countries. We take protocols to ensure to the
best of our ability a safe environment, but ultimately we will abide by the local regulations around COVID.
