My experience as a Guatemala Yoga Teacher Training Student

How does one describe an experience that completely revolutionized their life?

 

It feels almost impossible to put into words what my 200 hour Teacher Training with School Yoga Institute in Guatemala meant to me. When I began my journey towards a yoga school, I knew there was no other school for me than SYI. My heart sought an experience that took me beyond the mat, one in which I learned not only asanas and meditation, but how to live a centered, open, and loving life. The mystical aspects that SYI weaves into their programs not only inspired me, but created an even deeper connection to yoga within me. Having my heart opened on this journey with SYI, I learned how to better love both others and myself. For each offering of technical mastery in relation to asana and proper alignment, we students were given ways to live more compassionately, to connect with our own spirits, and the knowledge of how to share this gift with others. I have such gratitude for our teachers who shared their immense expertise on the mat while also exemplifying how to truly live a yogic life off the mat.


My experience of gaining such a profound life education with School Yoga Institute was entirely enriched by the magic of my training’s location, the stunning Lake Atitlan. Each morning, as the sun rose, I was able to witness the beauty of Pachama’s awakening. And each evening, as the sun set across the lake, I offered my gratitude for having the opportunity to experience such a magnificent place on earth. The Mystical Yoga Farm provided us students with such a safe and spiritually uplifting space to find our own growth and connection. Every aspect of the farm, from the sacred spaces to the daily delicious meals, enriched students’ experiences.

Overall, I have such immense gratitude to School Yoga Institute for gifting me with a totally new outlook on life. I am a changed person because of this path and I credit SYI and their amazing program, teachers, and staff for leading me on this journey. Thank you, SYI, and I look forward to gifting others with the same kindness, compassion, and wisdom that your 200 hour yoga program imparted on me.
