Ojo Del Mar is located on the southwestern tip of Costa Rica on the Osa Peninsula, approximately 12 miles south of Puerto Jimenez. You can arrive from San Jose by plane, car, or bus. Most guests fly into San Jose and take one of several daily flights to Puerto Jimenez. From there we can arrange a taxi for you from Puerto Jimenez to Ojo Del Mar. ($40 per 4 person taxi). From there it is a 45-minute ride to Ojo Del Mar. Once you fill out the logistics sheet as the training grows closer, we will be better able to coordinate taxi pick up and arrange students who arrive around the same time to share a taxi.
Daily bus service presently leaves from San Jose (Barrio Mexico) to Puerto Jimenez at 8 a.m. and 12 noon, and departs for San Jose from Puerto Jimenez at 5 A.M. and 9 A.M. The bus ride takes approximately 8 hours, and costs approximately $15 per person each way. Buses are not air-conditioned, and this is only recommended for the “hearty traveler.” Reservations are not possible. Once arriving to Puerto Jimenez, you will need to take a taxi. Call Transportes Blanco once you are in San Jose. Their number is 2257-4121, and their address is Barrio Mexico de la Parada de San Carlos 25mts Norte, San Jose. http://www.grupoblanco.cr
If several students show interest in a group shuttle from San Jose to Ojo Del Mar, we can arrange one for $300. Let us know if this is something you would be interested in and if we get enough people, we can organize this.
The currency in Costa Rica is Colones. US Dollars are widely accepted but you will not get the best exchange rates. We also suggest not to use the money exchange in the airport as the rates are high. Current rate is approx. 540 Colones to $1 USD. There are ATMs in Puerto Jimenez if you need to pull out cash after your flight or bus ride. Ojo Del Mar does accept credit cards with a 5% service.
Upon arrival, we will get you settled into your room and give you a short orientation. Feel free to check in after 12 pm or to drop your bags off early. If you would like to arrive early and book extra nights, please contact Nico at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is important that everyone make full room and board payment before the training begins. If you still owe tuition or room and board payment, please contact Keri at email@example.com to discuss.

*Immigration will give you an exit ticket upon arrival which you need to keep with you. Upon departure you will need to pay an “Exit Tax” at the airport before you check into your flight. The “exit tax” is approx. $29 and can be paid in cash or by card at the booth in the departure terminal. (the booth is located on the right side of the building if you are facing the ticket counters.) Sometimes the fee is built into your ticket price, so check first!
Most of the airlines will ask your exit ticket from Costa Rica before allowing you to board the plane. If you do not have a flight out from Costa Rica yet, you may purchase a bus ticket to Panama with www.ticabus.com this ticket reservation can be changed within one years time. The Panamanian border is 2h away from Jimenez. But the bus ticket is only sold for San Jose – David.
