Shaun Amos
Yoga Teacher. Writer. Actor

I started Yoga after a back injury from partying too hard in my early twenties. My body said no more. I arrived on the mat broken. Only after 6 months my mind, body and spirit had significantly changed. I had changed. There was no going back. I realized I was slowly growing into someone I really liked, thanks to Yoga.
After it healed my back I felt called to teach it. The changes in all areas of my life enabled me to see that I could help others change theirs. Yoga doesn’t solve all your problems but it’s the gateway. And I wanted to help people start that journey and reconnect with who they were meant to be all along.
In June 2018, I completed a 200-hour Mystical Yoga Teacher Training in Guatemala with School Yoga Institute, which was a transformative experience that deepened my connection to yoga’s spiritual roots. Eager to expand my skills, I pursued a 150-hour Rocket Yoga Teacher Training at Leon London Indaba Yoga Studio in 2020-21, followed by a 50-hour Meditation Yoga Teacher Training with School Yoga Institute in March 2021.
My journey also led me to explore specialized practices, such as completing a 40-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training in London with Norman Blair in May 2022 and a 100-hour Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training with Nadia Rafaat at Battersea Yoga in December 2022. Most recently, I undertook a 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training with School Yoga Institute in February 2023, further refining my practice and teaching approach.
Over the years, I’ve led retreats in Italy, Morocco, Mallorca, and the UK, as well as workshops on advanced postures and unique practices like eye mask yoga and partner yoga. With seven years as a dedicated practitioner and six years of teaching experience, yoga has become an integral part of my life. My background in the Acting & Writing Industry, with over a decade in Theatre, TV, and Film in London, adds a creative and empathetic touch to my teaching style.
What’s your favorite yoga pose and why?
Parivrtta Trikonasana. It was the pose I struggled with the most because it highlighted all the areas I was tight. It was the pose I needed to do. I used to feel like it was punishment, trying to do this pose. Now I see it as being kind to my body. It’s just another great pose helping me open my thoracic spine and hips. Something that I need to do on a daily basis.
What is your favorite quote?
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there” – Rumi
What inspires you in your practice?
Everytime I practice I come back to who I really am, past the anxiety and over thinking, which enables me to enjoy the present moment.
