Keri is a modern mystical momma who grew up in Roseburg, Oregon. She spent her childhood in the wild, playing outside with her brothers, and becoming a lover of all things athletic. Upon graduating high school, she went on to Oregon State University where she met her beloved husband Jed Pennell and earned her masters degree in Exercise Science and pedagogy. Keri and Jed quickly became well loved Health and Physical Education teachers in Point Arena, California. It was there that their first child Kalani was born. Keri instantly realized that her life passion was to be a mother! Since then, Keri has become a mother to 3 more children Phoenyx, Orion, and Lotus Jewel!! Keri and Jed now travel the world, spreading the love and light of yoga through yoga teacher training courses! When they are not traveling, they make home base in Ashland, Oregon.
Keri is also a vegan chef, where she has cooked for many of School Yoga Institute’s Yoga Teacher Training courses, in Costa Rica, where they resided for many years. She finds her inspiration in home birth, vegan food creations, conscious living, nature walks with her family, and fermentation!! You can find Keri, Jed and their 4 beautiful children on a sports field or hiking trail, making yummy vegan treats together in their kitchen, or at a Yoga Teacher Training in Guatemala, Peru, Costa Rica, or Bali!

Trisha’s journey with SYI began in 2014 when she completed her 200 Hour Teacher Training in Peru! She was on a quest to find the tools to heal her body from a snowboarding accident that had turned into chronic pain. School Yoga gave her those tools along with a fresh perspective on life as she continued her path in the corporate world. Working for multiple resorts in Canada and North America’s largest ski resort, Whistler Blackcomb, Trisha developed a love for positive leadership and the integration of wellness and mindfulness in the workplace. She is certified in Mental Health First Aid and advocates for self-compassion and self-care. When she’s not in the mountains hiking and skiing, you can find her cooking, practicing yin yoga, and playing her guitar!

Juan Carlos found Yoga when he was going through a hard time in his life. He was studying and working way too hard and in turn was exhausted physically and emotionally.
One day he saw a little yoga studio and decided to take a class. It was weird, different, uncomfortable, but at the same time he felt good, relaxed, and happy. Yoga wasn’t what he thought. It required concentration, strength, connection between mind and body. He definitely wasn’t prepared for that. So, he gave it a chance and signed in for a month.
A couple years later, he is completely convinced about the benefits of this practice. He has taken 2 Yoga teacher trainings: 200hr Yoga and Biomechanics YTT & the 200hr Yoga Teacher Training in Guatemala with the amazing School Yoga Institute. He also co-created a beautiful Yoga Studio in Quito, Ecuador. He now works on the SYI innovator team, managing marketing and website details.

Malasana. It keeps me grounded to my body, with the earth and the moment I’m in.
What's your favorite quote?
“In this life, let’s dance all night long, let’s cry with no fear, let’s hold on to our dreams and let’s sleep with clear conscience. Let’s enjoy life with cheekiness and laugh at ourselves, because the idea of being bitter is just too boring.
Let’s learn that life takes many twists and turns, that is too short, and that is up to us how we live it. Let’s enjoy the small details, celebrate the precious moments, congratulate others without envy and let’s fill our lives with smiles.
What inspires you in your practice?
My emotions. My body. The possibility to connect with myself on a deeper level.
