Isabella | Online 200hr YTT Testimonial
My name is Isabella Tear. I am a 26-year-old entrepreneur. I am a reiki practitioner and sound bath healer and felt like becoming a certified yoga instructor would be the perfect blend of what I already do while integrating my love for yoga into my work and everyday lifr. I took this course while also a being a new mother to my 2 under 2 babies here in Seattle Washington and I was part of the December 25’ class for the virtual School Yoga Institute training.
This virtual training taught me so much about the history of yoga and was extremely supportive, informative, and helpful being self paced. Being able to take my yoga teacher training online was very useful and still just as knowledgeable! I am so grateful for the community of other individuals who were taking the course with me and how flexible and helpful all the yoga instructors were. Being able to take a trusted course like this online is so deeply needed in more communities, especially for myself being an entrepreneur and a mom; this has always been something I wanted to do for a long time and I am so thankful to school yoga institute that when I reached out they were willing to offer me a scholarship to attend the virtual course. This allowed me to expand my practice and appreciation of yoga and be able to work the course on my own time. My intention behind the training was to feel more connected with myself, find an inner sense of peace and calm and keep up a practice that I feel educated in and can always lean on.
I would highly recommend School Yoga Institute to anyone who is interested in joining and wanting to learn more about yoga and deepen one’s personal practice. I will be taking away from this training the confidence in teaching others as well as all of the knowledge and ability to look back on what I have gained from the course.
What I plan to do with this 200 hour certification is to offer yoga classes in small settings of 8-10 people. I desire to offer a more intimate yoga practice as well as offer to moms who can bring their kids to practice as well. Offering other busy moms a space to exercise and practice is so essential and needed within my community and School Yoga Institute granted me this opportunity to finish my certification training and begin teaching at a point in my life now where I wouldn’t have even thought I could be preparing to offer these lessons.
My Yoga Teacher Training with School Yoga Institute influences and inspires what I do now through incorporating more moments of mindfulness in my everyday life and using this inner dharma I have learned from the course as I prepare towards my future teachings and practice. I would like to empower others with my gifts through offering a safe space to explore and challenge one’s body through practicing yoga and yogic philosophies. I think many current yoga studios are beginning to feel too corporate leaning and my desire is for it to be comfortable, supportive and freeing for everyone. I hope to connect with others through natural encounters but hopefully I can also gain some resources to share my classes to a larger audience who may need it as well as share more about my journey as a yoga instructor on social media.
Some specific memories I have from the Yoga Teacher Training is when we would do our initial meditations together online with our classmates guided by our instructor April and her guidance though the meditation was so calming and restorative energetically. In the course we learned to deepen and expand our spiritual practices beyond just yoga. Finding our life’s work, values, and purpose to be in alignment with our Dharma and how to live by these teachings to constantly improve and grow as teachers and also as students.
In the course we went over ways to integrate all the different yogic philosophies discussed and how to utilize all these new learned practices into our day to day life and expand on our own inner growth and development just as much as the physical practice. I really enjoyed the courses inclusion of the 4 different cycles of the medicine Andean wheel and using this as a pillar within the School Yoga Institute training. The serpent of the south, the eagle of the east, the jaguar of the west, the humming bird of the north and their philosophies around the duality of each element and archetype and how it plays out in our daily lives was truly profound.
I felt the overall course taught me so much about myself and my cyclical ways of living and thinking and got me to reframe my mindset around connection, attachment, fear, and joy. I truly feel like this course gave me the opportunity to dive deeper into my shadow work and evolve my experiences and old inner ways of knowing and being and transform it all into something greater that I could’ve done alone or in any other course.
Learning the Mystical Hatha Flow Yoga and Mystical Vinyasa Flow gave me a strong foundation for my future practices and in teaching both of these styles of yoga. I also feel that I have gained a strong foundation in yoga asanas and pranayama techniques through the course that can be applied to any teaching style and setting. I thoroughly believe that if you have an inner calling to follow it and trust that there are resources and opportunities that can bring you in the direction of executing your vision and for me school yoga institute was a resource that allowed me to get that much closer to my goals.
This course has allowed me follow through with a course to show myself that I can complete some thing I feel called to as well as find a deeper commitment to self-love, empowerment, and raise my personal and external vibration! I am honored to be part of the SYI family!
