Christina – Peru 200hr YTT

Sacred Valley of Peru has been an unparalleled experience, one that I will forever cherish as a profound turning point in my life. In the months before arriving at Munay Sonqo I had been feeling a bit lost in my path. I was happy at work and in my community at home but also craving a deeper connection to something greater and needing a sense of authenticity. As I reflect on the transformative 21 days spent immersing myself in the rich tapestry of yoga philosophy, practice, and culture, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the profound impact it has had on my mind, body, and spirit.

From the moment I arrived in this sacred land, surrounded by majestic mountains and enveloped in the healing energy of vibrant flora and fauna, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. The ambiance was nothing short of magical, offering a sanctuary for introspection and growth unlike any other. The spa-like atmosphere provided a cocoon of tranquility, while the nearby hiking trails, cascading waterfall, and bustling local village added layers of excitement and exploration to my journey.

The curriculum was impeccably designed, offering a comprehensive exploration of yoga’s history, philosophy, and diverse range of practices. From the intricacies of Asanas to the art of proper alignment and adjustments, every aspect of the training was thoughtfully curated to provide a deep understanding of the true essence of yoga. The classes were engaging, insightful, and delivered with a perfect balance of reverence and enthusiasm, instilling in us a profound appreciation for the wisdom of this ancient tradition.

The seamless integration of the four cycles and stages of the Shamanic medicine wheel provided a holistic framework for the practice, allowing me to connect deeply with the essence of yoga, my surroundings, and most importantly, myself. Each phase of the journey brought forth a new dimension of understanding and insight, fostering a profound sense of unity with the natural world and the rich cultural heritage of Peru.

Central to the success of this transformative experience were the facilitators, Jananī, April, and Bea, whose unwavering dedication and compassionate guidance created a nurturing space for growth and self-discovery. Their diverse teaching styles and wealth of knowledge illuminated the path ahead, empowering us to explore the depths of our practice with courage and authenticity.

Beyond the classroom, the sense of community that flourished within our cohort was truly extraordinary. Bonded by the shared journey and commitment to personal growth, I forged lifelong friendships and alliances that transcend time and distance. Together, we supported each other through the challenges and triumphs of our journey, celebrating our individuality and collective strength as we navigated the path toward self-realization.

No recount of this incredible experience would be complete without mention of the exquisite cuisine that nourished our bodies and souls throughout the training. As a Type 1 Diabetic I searched for courses and settings that would offer a full 3 meals per day plus access to fruit or snacks when needed. Munay Sonqo had it all. The meals were a true feast for the senses, bursting with flavor and vitality, each dish crafted with love and intention to support our journey of healing and transformation.

My journey through the 200-hour yoga teacher training in the Sacred Valley of Peru has been nothing short of life-changing. It has awakened within me a deep sense of purpose and connection, guiding me back to the true essence of who I am. I am eternally grateful for the experiences shared, the lessons learned, and the profound sense of community that will forever remain in my heart. This training has not only equipped me with the skills and knowledge to share the gift of yoga with others but has also illuminated the path towards a more authentic and fulfilling life.
