Yin yoga is a beautiful practice that takes us on a journey into our inner world. Through the practice of yin, we start to understand the world through stillness and softening. Yin helps us to turn inwards, tune in, and listen. When we can understand ourselves, we can start to understand the world around us. Yin practice on the mat teaches us how to practice stillness off the mat. We start to realize that there is a pause between action and reaction.

In this modern hectic and busy world, we have started to lean towards quieter and slower practice: A practice where we can stop, calm, and return back to equilibrium. Yin offers us this space to go in, breathe, and look inside. Yin helps us to turn inwards, tune in, and listen. When we can understand ourselves, we can start to understand the world around us. Yin practice on the mat teaches us how to practice stillness off the mat. We start to understand that there is a pause between action and reaction.

Yin yoga practice is slow and accessible for many levels of practitioners. The intention of Yin Yoga is to open into the body and its connective tissues, bones, joints, and ligaments. The long-held poses give the body time to react, expand, open, and change. The change does not only happen on a physical level yet on an emotional level as well. This slow and quiet practice opens the door to deeper inside to the soul level as we start to quiet down the business around. Overall – Yin teaches us Resilience – How to bounce back from challenges and how to breathe through life.

The School Yoga Institute 50H YIN YTT is a unique offering as it approaches the YIN yoga from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is the foundation of Yin yoga. In addition to the TCM, we look at the YIN through the lens of the chakra system and the Peruvian Medicine Wheel.

Our School Yoga Institute 50h basic Yin Yoga Teacher Training gives you tools to start offering the gift of Yin Yoga. In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of what is Yin Yoga and why one should practice it, the benefits to mind, body, and soul, and understanding effects of the practice of Yin on mental and physical levels.

If you have your 200h TTC this will be the perfect course to deepen your knowledge and can be considered as part of your continuing education hours with Yoga Alliance. If you do not have your 200h you will be able to take this course and you will be empowered to take your personal practice deeper.

After completing this course we have another continuous education YIN course: The 100h Advanced Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra YTT that will take your DiscorerYINg journey even deeper and you can keep expanding and growing on your path.

YIN YOGA TRAINING COURSE OUTLINE

The course schedule is intense and will cover many things. There are morning breaks and lunch breaks but the days are packed, to offer you as much as possible in the time that we have together.

The 8-day and 7-night transformational yin course follows the Peruvian Medicine wheel, which is based on the 4 archetypes of the human being: the Serpent, The Jaguar, The Hummingbird, and The Eagle. These 4 archetypes cycle our training to move from our body, to navigate our mind and soul to the essence of our spirit. During these 8 days and 4 cycles, you will dive deep into your transformational journey through Yin Yoga.

On the days we will start with meditation and asana practice followed by a breakfast break. In the morning classes before lunch we will spend learning about yin yoga, the different approaches to “maps” (meridians, Chakras, and shamanism), and the anatomy related to this practice. After lunch we will dive deep into philosophy, learn about dharma and what makes a “good dharma talk” and in our Asana clinic we will look into the poses and learn about the poses, how to teach them, instruct and adjust and use props.

DAILY SCHEDULE

If it is not important to you to receive a 50-hour certificate, you can choose to attend only the classes you wish to attend and make this a “Yin Retreat”.

DAILY PRACTICE

In this training, you will enjoy different Yin yoga practices daily. You will receive two yoga classes daily morning asana practice of 90min with 30min meditation and 75 in the evening chill class. During the training, some of the morning practice will be yang style practice, as we know we need to understand yang to understand yin. The evening classes will be chill yin classes.

At the end of the 8 days (50h) of training, you will teach a 60-minute Yin yoga class to your peer. You will walk away with three different Yin sequences that you can share with your students, one for each of the maps we are talking about: Shamanism, Tao (TCM) and Hindu/Chakras.
