My strength as a facilitator is in meeting people where their at - through relatable stories, crafting spaces for experiential learning, and deep understanding. I find value and joy in connection. I prefer to create and hold space for connection and understanding. Through my years of facilitation, I’ve adapted and curated my ability to present things in a very digestible manner - things like abstract concepts, philosophy, linguistic principles, and those embodied expressions that are typically ‘felt’ rather than explained. I enjoy making ancient yogic texts applicable and relatable to everyday life in the 21st century, both through discussion and guiding seekers toward feeling these teachings through their direct experience in asana. I am driven through interest in how we use our language, self-trust and empowerment, and embodiment. I aim to merge that childlike quality of awe and wonder with our daily lives through intuitive movement. I believe in the necessity of empowering one another, and believe it is done through FUN, play and support!
When not teaching Yoga, she is founder and CEO of Grow Abroad Asheville, a local Cultural Exchange Program-meets-Summer Camp initiative, which fosters international cooperation, community outreach, and building lifelong relationships by providing educational programming to the students of Asheville and abroad, expanding young people's perspectives, and fostering international understanding through learning and sharing our culture and diversity, promoting a mutual understanding of the world and its people. Katie’s other ventures include working in clubs and programming at a private school in Asheville NC, a national leader in holistic, alternative and mindful education that draws from the best in current educational thinking and holistic models of child development, as well as designing and implementing well rounded and nurturing environments for Early Childhood Development co-op programs, offering a space for creative, independent, and child driven learning.
“It is my purpose on this planet to connect people, places, and ideas. I also love a good book, hiking in my local WNC wilderness, writing, creating art, enjoying lots of coffee and chocolate and planning soul- centered trips around the world”
