SYI FACILITATORS:

MEET MIRANDA

Yoga, Philosophy, Wilderness, Zen, and Creativity.

Drawn to yoga almost two decades ago without quit knowing why, Miranda’s teachings are rooted in traditional Hatha Yoga, Zen Buddhism, and a lived connection to the natural world. By honoring all eigh limbs of a yogic life, Miranda works to discover deep peace and joy with every student — not only for ourselves, but for all sentient beings. As Irum Naqvi one of the many teachers Miranda has been fortunate enough to learn with, says, “Practicing yoga asana in isolation is like preparing a delicious meal withou eating it.

After finding her way to yoga, Miranda completed a 200-hour Hatha Yoga teaching training in 2013 and a 300-hour Yoga and Ayurveda teacher training in 2021. She has been drawn to widely offer the wisdom and healing she herself has benefited from and teaches trauma-informed Hatha, Yin, and meditation workshops to a variety of humans. Adjacent workshops Miranda teaches focus on environmental grief, death and mortality, creativity, and belonging in wild places. Always a student, Miranda studies the yoga sutras with Raquel Bueno and practices Engaged Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.

Almost two decades after experiencing her first asana class, Miranda remains grateful every day to experience the power of yoga with others. She is endlessly inspired to share this path with all who find themselves upon it and humbled by all who came before. The lived yoga of what emerges is our true nature: healing and awakening, in community.

What’s your favorite pose?

Over the years, one I keep coming back to in appreciation of its continuous unfolding is Sirsasana (headstand), although I could easily say the same of Sukhasana (seated pose)!

What’s your favorite quote?

“The capacity to wonder may be the only answer necessary.” — Stephen Jenkinson

What inspires you in your practice?

Everything! Śrāddha — faith. Faith in yoga as a wisdom tradition capable of bringing us home to ourselves, where true healing is always happening. I want to know what a world full of practitioners would look like! Starting with myself, one breath after another, and knowing that this will impact everything and everyone I encounter, that inspires me each and every day.
