Welcome to Kura Kura Yoga Resort
Bali, known as the Heart Chakra of the world, is a magical place that everyone should once in their lifetime experience. Kura Kura Yoga Retreat Center is on the SouthEast shore of Bali, just 50 steps from the sea, in a traditional fishermen village called Pantai Seseh (translation: Seseh Beach), between Canggu and the famous temple Tanah Lot. Kura Kura is the Indonesian word for ‘sea turtle’. The sea turtle is an ancient symbol of the spiritual ground of the universe, it implies independence, patient long journeys and the support for all, from all that exists. Removed slightly from the bustling town of Canggu, Seseh Beach is a peacefully serene, untouched by tourism town in which still remains authentically Balinese. It is, however, only a 15 minute walk along the shore to the very popular Echo Beach, a famous surf spot with restaurants on the beach.
Being at Kura Kura means living close to nature with the rhythms of the sea, the sounds of birds and geckos singing in the garden, or the music of the Balinese gamelan and mantras of the Balinese ceremonies around us. We provide you a place away from the tensions of modern life but will all the amenities you need to feel at home. Comfortable rooms and beds, a well-supplied yoga shala, incredible healing food, a swimming pool and air conditioning.
Kura Kura was originally built as a family house and in a way it still is. Many of the eight double rooms are Java style houses situated around the Yoga Shala (central building) and pool. Our rooms are each unique, clean and fresh as the breeze you can feel from the sea, but also protected and safe as the shield of a Kura Kura (Turtle). The 5 Balinese staff members become like family and are full of the hospitality and grace the Balinese are famous for. They love to share their knowledge of Balinese spiritual life and daily village life. All meals prepared are healthy vegetarian Indonesian/Asian fusion style and prepared with pure love. Come experience the bliss of Bali at Kura Kura.
“What an awesome experience it was to be a part of the SYI 200 hr YTT in Bali. Thank you for providing such a memorable and life-changing experience which was way beyond the yoga! The facilitators and staff created a warm family environment where we all felt 100% able to be our fully expressed selves. The course materials were all very well curated and presented. The love that was shared among the group was authentic and unconditional. I am so grateful for SYI and the outstanding staff and facilitators!”
