Welcome to Pondok Pitaya Retreat Center
Pondok Pitaya Retreat Center, located in Balian Beach, is located on the edge of a natural volcanic black sand beach and beautiful cliff crafted by nature itself. Pondok Pitaya’s Bungalows are a cozy alternative retreat center consisting of a different type of Indonesian traditional wooden bungalows built of teak woods and boat woods, facing the surf break, swimming pool, conveniently located just meters from the beach. All rooms have been reconstructed from indigenous houses imported from Java, dating back to the 1930’s. Some say Pondok Pitaya is a hotel, but some say its home.
Pondok Pitaya is one of the best places in Balian Beach for both Surfing and Yoga. Experience a world of limitless adventure and sun-filled days in Balian beach, where you can live out your dream of being a surfer while fulfilling your truth of becoming a yoga teacher. Here you can slip into a waking dream with clear skies under a starlit sky accompanied by tropical sea breezes and ocean mists. Pondok provides an outlet to the freshest Indonesian and Western cuisines daily and is just 45 minutes away from the Tabanan Mountain region where there is a deliciously invigorating coffee plantation hike with fresh brewed Balinese Coffee.
“I spent a month here doing yoga teacher training. The location is incredible, right by the beach. When I arrived, I could not believe my luck as the hotel directly faces the ocean. I instantly relaxed after the long haul flight and settled into the place. The Yoga Shala is directly facing the ocean and it is lovely to practice with the sound of the waves crashing by. All the staff at Pondok Pitaya are very warm, welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts are a combination of traditional or western style breakfasts and wholesome. The massages are wonderful, especially as they take place in little huts facing the beach. The rooms are quaint and different. It felt very authentic and the beautiful gardens surrounding the rooms is magnificent. The area itself is off the beaten track a little, but there are some nice restaurants and bars around the place. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at Pondok and look forward to returning one day.” – Trip Advisor, Scotty R, 2017
